Senior Writer Akella Exclusive Interview

AKELLA is a versatile creative artist. He is a film writer, Film Director, TV Writer, TV Director, Stage Writer, Stage Actor & Director. He was born in Kakinada on 10-2-1950. He started his literary career as a short story writer and has written more than 200 short stories in different magazines of Andhra Pradesh. Out of which 26 stories were translated into all Indian Languages.

As a novelist, he received many awards including Visalandhra Award, Andhra Prabha Award, Yuva Chakrapani Award, Vijaya monthly magazine Award twice for his novels.

As a TV serial writer. He has bagged the prestigious Stage Nandi Award thrice. One for Nariyagam as a story writer and another for Pallevasam Patnavasam as a dialogue writer, third time best story writer Nilo Sagam. He has written more than a thousand TV. Serial Episodes. He has directed many T.V. Episodes like Madanakamaraju etc.

As a film writer starting with Maga Maharaju in 1983 he has written about 80 films to date. In which there are National award-winning films like Swathimuthyam, Sruthilayalu and State award-winning films like Adade Aadharam.

He worked with many eminent Directors as Krishna Vamsi, EVV Satyanarayana, Moulee, Visu, K Vishwanath, and Kodi Ramakrishna. His other successful films are Siri Vennala, Srimathi Oka Bahumathi, Naga Devata, Illu-Illalu-Pillalu, O Bharya Katha, Ayanaki Iddaru, Chilaka Pacchani Kapuram, etc., He has also directed a comedy Film Ayyayyo Brahmmayya.

He has written stage plays in all forms such as Natika, Natakam and verse play. His famous stage plays are Amma, Repati Shatruvu, Indian Gas, Bhavadeeyam, Ambotu, Nalugo Simham, Aravai Dateyi Enduku, Kaki Yengili, Cross Roads, Air India, etc., These plays were performed at many places and won many awards in drama competitions all over the country. His musical play Srinadhudu changed the trend in Telugu Padya Natakam.

Recently his other musical play Allasani Peddanna was performed in Nandi Award Drama Competitions of Government of Andhra Pradesh and was hailed by scholars & state Veterans and in bagged Silver Nandi in 2009.
