Remembering L.V. Prasad, a Multi-faceted Personality On his Birthday

Akkineni Lakshmi Vara Prasada Rao, popularly known as L. V. Prasad, started his career as an errand boy for Venus Film Company fostered to become a founder of Prasads Group which include the Prasad Art Pictures, Prasad Studios, Prasads IMAX and L V Prasad Eye Institute.


Can anyone imagine that a person who left his house in a state of unhappiness and despair would become an institution himself? Can anyone think him to be a top performer in Indian Film Industry with a multi-faceted performance as an actor, producer, director, studio chief? LV Prasad is a comprehensive filmmaker who has achieved all such impossibility.


L.V. Prasad born on 17 January 1908 as the second son to Akkineni Sriramulu, Basavamma in the remote village of Somavarapadu, Eluru, was finding the going tough due to mounting debts when he entered into the Film industry.


This multi-lingual, multi-disciplinary enterprise has produced and directed in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Oriya and other languages. The fact that LV Prasad, who has been producing studios and laboratories in all the major cities of India, has not been undeniable for decades as one of the major contributors to Indian film employment and stimulus.


LV Prasad was one of the pioneers of Indian cinema and is the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and  Raghupathi Venkaiah Award.


Prasad Productions, Prasad Film Labs, Prasad Video Digitals, LV Prasad Film Institute and Television Academy, Prasad Multiplex, Prasad EFX, Anand Cine Service are the film infrastructures he contributed to Film Industry.
