It’s been 23 years Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, a household name of Telugus breathed his last. Best known for his portrayals of Hindu idols, especially Lord Krishna and Lord Rama with such an intensity people started believing God’s will be like NTR. It was 17 times that NTR played Lord Krishna.

Can anybody imagine producing a movie in just 43 days, directing it, giving story and screenplay and appearing in three major roles which have a screen presence of 4 hours?  It was NTR who could make it possible and made 2 crore box office collections for a 10 lakh budget movie in 1977.

NTR was adjudged as the Greatest Indian Actor in a famous poll-survey conducted in celebration of 100 years of Indian cinema. Besides Rashtrapati Awards for his spectacular performances NTR received three National Film Awards as a technician; two for co-producing and one for directing. NTR was honoured with Padma Shri, for his contribution to Indian Cinema and every Telugu is waiting for ‘Bharath Ratna’ to be conferred to this Yuga Purushudu.
