Birthday wishes to Class Writer and Mass Director Harish Shankar

Ravi Kumar V | Mar-31-2020

On the occasion of writer, director Harish Shankar’ s Birthday, here is this mass  director’s journey from Dharmapuri Agraharam to tinsel town via BHEL. Being a son of a telugu teacher, Harish shankar opted for the only telugu medium school in BHEL and had an opportunity to tour through out undivided erstwhile Andhra Pradesh with drama companies like ‘Seeta Nilayam’ and ‘Lalitha Kala Mandiram’. Having tried for  training in acting at NSD (National School of Drama), and with the advice of eminent personalities like Girish Karnad and Charu Hassan, Harish Shankar went behind the screen.

“Ninne Istapaddanu” was the first entry for Harish Shankar into film industry as co- director. After working as an assistant in films like “Veede” and “Naa Autograph” Harish Shankar had an opportunity to direct a movie with Ram Gopal Varma’s Production  with Ravi Teja as hero. “Shock” was a shock to him, but with out any flamboyant attitude Harish Shankar worked as an assistant again for movies like Chirutha,Bujjigadu,Chintakayala Ravi, Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam, and Adhurs. Mass maharaja’s ‘Mirapakai” was his re-entry as director again and he never looked back.

It would be no exaggeration to say that the remake of Dabangg “Gabbar Singh” re invented Power Star Pawan Kalyan film career after continuous flops in his bag. With his “maarpulu” and “maatalu” Harish Shankar made Gabbar Singh, a hilarious blockbuster. No one will ever forget the Antyakshari of goons in the film. Apart from it created a career for the Gabbar Singh batch.

Ramayya Vasthavayya with N. T. Rama Rao Jr.,Subramanyam For Sale with Sai Dharam Tej, Duvvada Jagannadham with Allu Arjun, Gaddalakonda Ganesh with Varun Tej are examples of his mastery in knowing mass pulse.

Often mis understood about his speaking while addressing with media and in movie function Harish Shankar’s speaking his mind can be best understood in his speech in “Sakarabharanam” movie 40th anniversary.

Movietonite wishes this class writer and mass director Harish Shankar a wonderful birthday and all best wishes for his upcoming PSPK28.
